On Febuary 12th, Paws for the Cause is back with a Valentine’s Day themed affair.   The event is part mixer, part bachelor auction and will feature food, DJs, entertainment and opportunities to win impossible-to-get reservations at the buzziest spots on February 14 with dinner and some drinks included.

Canada’s National Ballet School’s Casablanca Gala

On February 7th, Canada’s National Ballet School is throwing is ‘Casablanca Gala,’ at The Carlu.  As the name implies, the event will be 40’s/Casablanca themed, with a cocktail reception, casino elements, era-inspired live music, and performances by the Professional Program Students of Canada’s National Ballet School.

Design Exchange’s ‘This Is Not A Toy’ Exhibition Opening, featuring Pharrell.

On Febuary 6th, The DX launches the world’s first ever large-scale exhibition dedicated to designer toys as contemporary art. Visitors will dive headfirst into a surreal realm of art “toys” as the Exhibition Hall is transformed into a life-size dream world, filled with figures ranging from tiny trinkets to enormous free-standing pieces.  Guest curated by American music and fashion icon, Pharrell Williams.

Chef’s Challenge featuring Giada de Laurentiis.

Chef’s Challenge is an annual fundraiser for Mount Sinai Hospital, where guests have the opportunity to cook alongside their favourite celebrity chefs. This year the featured chef is Giada de Laurentiis. Mark McEwan and David Rocco will also be in attendance.

The Interior Design Show Opening Party

The Big Give
One of the first big events at the new Ripley’s Aquarium, The Big Give is a fundraiser in support of Look Good Feel Better (LGFB), an organization that brings together women with cancer in a safe and supportive environment.  100% of proceeds generated will be given back to the LGFB Foundation.

On October 24th (2013), the Canadian Opera Company (COC) will hold its annual large-scale fundraiser – Operanation – this year dubbed ‘A Night of Temptation.’ Held at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Operanation has proven it’s a not-to-be-missed evening of music and revelry.  COC soprano Ambur Braid has wow’ed audiences in the past with her genre-bending collaborations with the eve’s headlining music act.  This year will be no different, as Braid will perform alongside the Sam Roberts Band.

Artbound is a nonprofit volunteer initiative that harnesses the power of the arts in support of Free The Children. Over the past three years they have raised $600,000, and in 2011 were successful in building the first ever all-girls art school in Kenya. This year, Artbound is committed to breaking ground on the “Adopt-a-Village” program in Rajasthan, India and focusing on the development of a scholarship to fund young Canadian artists on volunteer trips.
