We bid adieu to another busy season of World MasterCard Fashion Week.   While its front rows were unsurprisingly packed with all the right people –  Mayor John Tory and Suzanne Rogers for David Dixon, and Elisha Cuthbert and Tessa Virtue for Hilary MacMillan – it was the event scene that really stepped up its game.  For every runway offering, there was an equally interesting event, after party, and after after party.

No one capitalized on the festive fervor more than FASHION Magazine, who held the second iteration of its Fashion Week Awards. The event, held at the Design Exchange, featured a bevy of food, drink, and interactive stations.  The crowd, made up of models, designers, and ticket buying fashion lovers, partied late into the night.  The best collection award went to Pink Tartan and Kimberley Newport-Mimran, who was in attendance with her husband Joe MimranKiera Meldum, the freckled and fresh-faced runway sensation, took home the prize for best model.

Away from the tents, Guelph University welcomed Michael Snow as the key speaker for its annual Dasha Shenkman Lecture Series.  Snow, a brilliant artist and musician, offered rare insight into the process and creation of his collective works.  Following the lecture, a VIP dinner was prepared by Guelph’s Culinary Arts students.

Finally, back on the fashion week circuit, Toufik Sarwa was kind enough to host me and Sabrina Maddeaux at Amber for Fashion Week After Hours.
