MAY 3rd, 2015 – BY RYAN EMBERLEY
A motley crew of style authority gathered at Toronto’s Ritz Carlton on Thursday to celebrate SHARP Magazine’s latest Book For Men. The much-ballyhooed event, expertly assembled by CANDICE&ALISON, is a cocktail-cum-tradeshow that’s gala-esque in its size and grandiosity. “Which way to the whisky?” Asked an arriving guest. The answer: basically everywhere. The Balvenie, Rémy Martin, Mount Gay Rum, and Herradura Tequila were among the notable tipple to-dos. And to keep everyone looking their sharpest, a 3D printing station by Lexus pumped out cufflinks.
Among the notable faces in attendance: CFL alum Damon Allen, MLS’er Dwayne De Rosario, Selma actor Stephan James, Ainsley Kerr, and a trio of Maples Leafs players.
The eve prior, the Daniels Spectrum played host to the Crescendo Gala in support of the Regent Park School of Music (RPSM). The RPSM helps bring the gift of music to at-risk youth – many of whom were on hand to perform. Also on the ticket: Barenaked Ladies bassist Jim Creeggan, Juno-winner Fred Penner, and Parachute Club vocalist Lorraine Segato. Only a polar bear shy from 100% Canadiana saturation.
Out to support the cause on this eve: Mary Symons, Vonna Bitove, gala chair Sharon Hudson, and the Globe & Mail’s Nolan Bryant.
